Halloween at Blue Cuckoo Farm

24 & 25 October 1pm–4pm

For one weekend in October, we’re opening up our pumpkin patch for a little Blue Cuckoo Farm Halloween.

Come and choose a pumpkin from the patch, follow our children’s Halloween trail, have your face painted and enjoy some homemade cake and a hot drink while you’re here. There’ll also be a stall of things we’ve grown and made here at Blue Cuckoo Farm.

Our pumpkins have all been grown right here on the farm, and there’ll be plenty to choose from — traditional orange pumpkins, beautiful blue and white varieties and some wonderfully weird and warty gourds.

We’ve grown our first proper pumpkin patch this year, with a mixture of traditional pumpkins, unusual varieties and some very strange little gourds.

There are pumpkins for carving, pumpkins that are particularly good for cooking, and varieties that can keep for months if they’re stored well. Then there are the ones we grew simply because we liked the look of them — blue, white, striped, knobbly and occasionally downright peculiar.

Come and choose your favourite from the patch. We’ll have information about the different varieties, what they’re best used for and prices available on the day.

For our younger visitors, there’s a free Halloween trail around the pumpkin patch, with clues to find and questions to answer along the way. See if you can make it all the way to the end.

Complete the trail and there’ll be a little Halloween sweet waiting for you at the finish.

Children’s Halloween Trail

Get into the Halloween spirit with free face painting. Choose something spooky, silly or simply colourful — whatever takes your fancy.

Homemade cakes and biscuits will be on offer throughout the afternoon, along with tea, coffee and juice.

Pick a pumpkin, then warm your cockles with a cuppa and something homemade.

Alongside the pumpkins, we’ll have a little stall of things grown and made here at the farm — including our Grunty Pigs, garden planters and pom-poms.

This will also be the first outing for our table-top Christmas trees, grown here on the farm and available naked or decorated.

The Useful Bits

Free entry — no booking needed.

Parking at the farm is limited, but on-street parking is available nearby.

Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead.

This is a Yorkshire farm in October, so if the weather has been wet, it may be muddy. Sensible footwear is definitely a good idea!
